Foreword from the president
Dear ADDE members and members of the dental industry,
Welcome to the ADDE spring update. This is already a busy year owing to the key challenges facing the industry, including increasingly multichannel business with a blurred line between manufacturer and dealer, digitisation in sales and manufacturing creating new synergies and routes to market, and the ongoing march of online platforms.
The new European medical device regulation is entering into force this May, but a significant number of notified bodies still to be certified, and trade negotiation between the UK and the European Union is expected to be concluded by the end of the year.
The board has launched a number of new initiatives to address the above issues and better represent the interests of dental dealers to the European Commission. We will present the results of each of these working groups in ADDE updates over the next 12 months. We also have a new vice president, Andreas Meldau, whom we will introduce in this update.
Lastly, I would like to remind you of the annual general assembly on 22 and 23 May in Hanover, and am looking forward to meeting you there.
Kind regards and wishing you a successful first quarter,
President of the ADDE
