Our dental world is moving along with global developments and is starting to meet again in person at various trade fairs and congresses around Europe. Dentists and dental technicians are finding their way back to dental events and are showing interest in new products and technologies.

The next major fair is the ADF Congress in Paris, and ADDE will be there. Our association will hold its scheduled board meeting in Paris, followed by our annual European dental business committee meeting, which will be held with our colleagues from the Federation of the European Dental Industry (FIDE).

This year, in addition to the implementation of the MDR—which will be presented by FIDE—a new theme will be discussed. Namely, the new regulations for distribution contracts. This will be introduced by ADDE.

After a very successful webinar on this topic, which hosted more than 60 participants from many European countries, we are elaborating on the new regulation in this newsletter. Frank Wijckmans of the Brussels-based law firm Faros is currently helping us to understand the details of this complicated matter. Wijckmans has served as an expert advisor to the European Commission and teaches at the Brussels School of Competition, giving him substantial background knowledge.

Furthermore, in this newsletter we are presenting an article by Mark Stephen Pace. Pace is chairman of the board of the Association of the German Dental Industry (VDDI), which organises the International Dental Show (IDS), and he is currently gearing up for IDS 2023, which will take place from 14 to 18 March in Cologne next year.

ADDE, along with FIDE, will be presenting the latest developments in the European dental trade in the new Survey 2023 at IDS.

Finally, we hope to be able to hold our AGA 2023 once again as an in-person event. We have accepted the invitation of Etienne J. Barthet, and we are looking forward to organising an interesting and well-attended event in Malta. More information will follow in the coming weeks.

I wish you all success in your business and personal lives and hope that you will have much fun and joy in your daily activities.

Dr Pavel Smazik
ADDE President
